Small Island Nations Lawsuit
The small island nations of Barbuda, Antigua, and Tuvalu are filing a claim to the UN International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea to attempt to get compensation for damages done to the ocean caused by developed countries and their greenhouse gas emissions. This case could pave the way for countries and corporations to be held legally responsible for their actions that cause damage to the environment. Climate change is becoming a major threat to the planet and future generations. Nations are reluctant to take any sort of action to fight the climate crisis and the climate change law field is very underdeveloped. If this case is successful, it could lead to significant action.
